Connecting to a Wireless Network on Microsoft Windows 7™
The information on this page applies to Microsoft Windows 7.
You should follow these instructions if your wireless router has already been setup with a wireless network and your wireless card is enabled.
For information on enabling your wireless card or setting up a wireless network please contact the manufacture of the card or router.
On the right side of the taskbar, you will see a wireless network icon like the one below. Click on it.
A window with available network connections will open. you will have a list with all the wireless network which Windows 7 has detected. To refresh the list of available networks, click on the refresh button
in the top right hand corner.
Click on the network you wish to use in the list. If you plan to use the network in the future, check the box ‘Connect automatically’.
Click on the Connect button once you have done this.
After a few seconds, you will be asked to enter the security key. Type the security key and click on OK.
When the connection is successful, the wireless icon from your taskbar changes as shown below.
When successfully connected, open your browser and load a page to test connectivity.
